2018 Lossiemouth Raft Race To Be Bigger Than Ever

The 41st annual Lossiemouth Raft Race, a hugely popular family day out and a major local and regional fundraising event, will be held on Sunday 29th July.  With this year’s race taking place during the year of RAF100 celebrations the aim is to make it bigger and better than ever as Lossiemouth and Moray shares in commemorating and celebrating the first 100 years of the Royal Air Force, and inspiring the next generation.

It is only fitting that the Lossiemouth Raft Race honours the centenary of the RAF by making the fancy dress theme for this year’s race entrants ‘100 Years Of The RAF’.

RAF Lossiemouth and Moray Council are organising the event with all profits being donated to four extremely worthy charities; The Ladybird Group, Moray Fresh Start, MFR Cash For Kids, and the RAF100 Appeal.

Locals and visitors to Moray are invited to bring along the whole family to enjoy the wide range of stalls and activities on offer.  In recognition of the RAF100 theme of this year’s event several sections from RAF Lossiemouth will be providing displays of some of the equipment they use to train, protect, and fly Station personnel; this will include the RAF Regiment, the Survival Equipment Section, and the Typhoon squadrons.  Also new this year will be a bike pump track for riders to try out, as well as Sea King and Jet Provost static displays from Morayvia.  Some of the best in local produce and crafts will be available as usual, and not forgetting this year’s mascots Minnie Mouse, Scooby Doo, and Chase from Paw Patrol who have found time in their busy schedules to join the fun!

Can last year’s winners, The Steamboat Inn, be knocked off the top spot and win the coveted Toilet Seat trophy again?  There is still time to enter a team or enquire about a stall or display at the event; to do so teams, businesses and organisations should email [email protected].
