Team Lossie has a new boss!
Group Captain Sarah Brewin ADC took over command of the Station from Group Captain Jim Lee on 19 July 2024.
The new ‘Staish’ is no stranger to Lossie, having previously served as Officer Commanding, Personnel Management Squadron, and Officer Commanding, Base Support Wing.
It is a huge privilege and pleasure to assume command of a Royal Air Force station where our people are delivering operations 24/7 to secure the seas and skies of the United Kingdom.
I know from my previous tours that what makes Lossie special is the great relationship that we enjoy with the local community. I am really looking forward to working with them over the next two years.
Incoming Station Commander, Group Captain Sarah Brewin
The outgoing Station Commander was clapped off station in the traditional way, marking the end of a tour which saw him oversee considerable growth, and the transition to a new model of airbase command.
“When I first took command I told Team Lossie that I wanted to make RAF Lossiemouth an even better place to live, work and stay and I think we've certainly achieved that over the last couple of years.
At the same time, I believe in planting trees we’ll never see, and I’m sure that we’ll see our efforts in advancing the Lossie Vision bear fruit in the years to come.
I want to thank our personnel, and the community that supports us. We could not have achieved the growth, both in terms of our operational output, and in infrastructure, without you.
Outgoing Station Commander, Group Captain Jim Lee
Group Captain Brewin joins the station fresh from the role of Deputy Director of the RAF’s Infrastructure and Property management team, overseeing the RAF’s estate of over 30 sites, 10,000 buildings and 29 active airfields.
Having commissioned into the Personnel Support branch of the RAF in 2006, Group Captain Brewin’s career first took her to the Falklands, for a brief stint in British Forces HQ South Atlantic Islands. She then spent the initial years of her career working in the RAF’s infrastructure specialisation, as a site facilities manager, and subsequently within the RAF’s major projects team.
An experienced mountaineer, Group Captain Brewin is to be found in the great outdoors most weekends. She’s served for over 15 years on RAF Mountain Rescue, and is a keen trail runner and cold-water swimmer.
