Lossie Fest 2024: RAF Lossiemouth growth means more service families than ever enjoy annual celebration

More Royal Air Force families than ever have enjoyed RAF Lossiemouth’s annual Friends and Families Day.

Over 4500 service personnel, families, and guests made their way to the station to enjoy a fun day of attractions and air displays.

More families than ever enjoyed the day.

The growth in guests reflects the increase in personnel serving at the station.

An F-35B role demonstration wowed the Lossie Fest crowds.

Lossie Fest, as the event is known, saw air displays by RAF Lossiemouth-based Typhoons and a P-8A Poseidon, as well as an F-35B Lightning from RAF Marham. U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons and an Irish Air Corps CASA C-295 took pride of place in the static display.

An A400 Atlas from RAF Brize Norton was popular with families.

Station families enjoyed all of the attractions, including a funfair and land train. There was also entertainment from RAF Lossiemouth Pipes and Drums, RAF Lossiemouth Voluntary Band, and Lossiemouth Military Wives Choir.

“We’re delighted that Lossie Fest 24 has seen more families through the gate than ever before.

“While the Station continues to deliver more on operations, at home and overseas, more is being asked of more RAF families. The day is primarily to thank them for their support.

“I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone on the Station who worked today, and gave up their weekend to allow friends and families to attend.”

Group Captain Jim Lee, Station Commander, RAF Lossiemouth.

Lossie Fest is organised by a voluntary committee of service personnel and funded by sponsors.
