Canine members of Team Lossie now have their own dedicated health and wellbeing space.
A new Sensory Garden was opened in June, ensuring that the station’s Military Working Dogs have somewhere to unwind.
The Garden features a range of enrichment activities and sensory stimulations proven to improve canine welfare. Plants, flowers and different surface stimulate the dogs’ sense of smell and touch, while agility obstacles allow them to take part in unstructured play.
Officer Commanding Base Support Wing, Wing Commander Rachel Sullivan, opening the Sensory Garden, commented:
“I am delighted to be able to open this Sensory Garden for Military Working Dogs. Regardless of the high standards of care provided to our dogs, a degree of kennel stress is inevitable. Being able to provide different stimuli for them when not working supports their health and wellbeing.”
A big thank you to Decora Elgin for their very kind donations to the sensory garden.
