About

42 Expeditionary Support Wing falls under the A4 Force Elements of the Support Force.  The Wing enables Air Operations by providing specialist Air Combat Service engineering support and airfield services across the globe. 

It is composed of a small headquarters and four Squadrons:

42 Expeditionary Support Wing originally formed during World War Two, when it was described as an 'agency service' providing the RAF’s bombs, ammunition and fuel, not so far from the Wing’s current role.

Badge

A castle, thought to be Oxford Castle, represents where ammunition was stored during the English Civil War.

Motto

'Fulmen Alatum Tenemus' or 'We hold in readiness the Winged Thunderbolts.'
