Wraparound childcare pilot expansion sites announced

Six defence sites in Lincolnshire as well as Woolwich Barracks in London have been announced as the locations for the expansion of the wraparound childcare (WAC) pilot scheme.

The Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has approved the expansion of the wraparound childcare pilot sites to include RAF Scampton, RAF Waddington (including REME Air Spt), RAF Coningsby (including REME Air Spt), RAF Digby (including 14 Signal Regt), RAF Cranwell, and RAF Syerston and to Woolwich Barracks, in London.

These additional sites join the three existing pilot sites that are already benefiting from the wraparound childcare offer and will help further develop the case toward a full UK roll-out.

Delivering on the manifesto commitment, this scheme provides payment toward the costs of wraparound childcare in, before, and after school provision for children aged 4-11 attending OFSTED registered (or equivalent) providers.

More details on how to join the scheme will be issued in early November.
