RAF personnel currently deployed in Romania as part of 140 Expeditionary Air Wing were recently invited to deliver a presentation to Officer Cadets at the Romanian National Defence University in Bucharest.
The presentation was delivered by the officers from the logistics element of 140 Expeditionary Air Wing and was delivered to an audience of Cadets, who are studying for a bachelor’s degree level qualification. The presentation explained the NATO mission that the RAF are currently undertaking, gave an overview of the NATO enhanced Air Policing mission and a more in-depth focus on the specific areas of communications, supply and mechanical transport.
The presentation was followed by a question and answer session, that allowed the Cadets to explore in more depth the challenges of supporting a deployment from a logistics perspective. They were also able to question how the RAF operates alongside the host nation Romanian Forces and as part of the NATO mission in Romania.
"As NATO members it is important that we can operate with our allies. Part of this is understanding each other’s cultures, capabilities and challenges. Engagements such as this one are intended to reassure our hosts and NATO allies that we are committed to collective defence by communicating why we are here and how we operate."
