Stephen is Chairman of the Alzheimer's Society and a non-executive director on the board of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
He was appointed by the Secretary of State DCMS to the board of OFCOM in 2014. Stephen has extensive governance experience having served as a non-executive director on the boards of Royal SunAlliance, Channel 4 and others.
He was a pioneer of Betfair plc, one of the UK’s most successful tech companies, as an early investor and CEO. He was Chief Executive of the Financial Times Group where he launched FT.com.
Stephen was a member of the Cambridge University Business School advisory board for 9 years and now is a Patron. He was awarded an OBE for his work in philanthropy. In his spare time, Stephen enjoys travel, gardening, classic cars and triathlons.
