Exercise Cobra Warrior

September has been extremely busy for 19 and 20 Squadron at RAF Boulmer! Co-ordinated by the RAF’s Air and Space Warfare Centre, Exercise Cobra Warrior 23-2 represented the most intense Air Exercise in UK airspace in a number of years and took place across multiple domains, including air, sea, land, space and cyber. This event provided an invaluable opportunity for our squadrons to train with international and national allies to work together to support a fictional country in conflict to regain sovereign territory.

19 Squadron led the Tactical Command and Control function to ensure that mission objectives were met. Using the GUARDIAN mission system, and supported by 20 Squadron training staff, 78 Squadron Air Traffic Control and Engineering Wing, 19 Squadron worked closely with NATO Airborne Early Warning Aircraft and the Royal Navy’s Queen Elizabeth II Aircraft Carrier. This enabled multinational airborne assets to receive situational awareness and minute-by-minute direction to achieve their mission over the North Sea and Northern UK.
