The STEM Ambassadors, Sergeant Carlos Maline and Corporal Kayleigh Craven, worked with teachers at Edith Moorhouse School to inspire Year 3 students to build the fastest rocket car basing their designs on the Bloodhound car.  The students were given the challenge to create a design, then with a basic kit of a foam block, wheels, axles and screws to build an aerodynamic car.

The Bloodhound Project’s mission is to share their 1,000mph Engineering Adventure and inspire children and young people by bringing science, technology, engineering and mathematics to life in the most exciting way possible which is to get hands-on experience of designing and building a rocket car.

Since the project began students from around the world have built and raced over 25,000 air rocket cars.

“The students today were so enthusiastic about building their own rocket car which showed in their designs. They really enjoyed seeing their design on paper come to life and being able to launch them and see which design was the fastest.”
