57th Commandant for Central Flying School

It’s all change at the Central Flying School (CFS)!

On 22nd July 2022, the reigns of the Central Flying School, which is located at RAF Cranwell were handed over from Group Captain Higgins to Group Captain Jordan and with them, responsibility for the training and standardisation of all UK tri-Service flying instructors, plus development of flying instructional techniques.

Group Captain Jordan is hugely proud and privileged to be the 57th Commandant and the first from a Rotary Wing background. His immediate focus will be on strengthening the relationships between CFS and the flying instructors delivering instruction, whilst developing CFS’ links with the UK’s international partners.

On taking Command, Group Captain Jordan said: “This is an extremely exciting time to be involved in military flying instruction and to further develop the reputation of, and support offered by, the Central Flying School to all areas of the UK and overseas military flying communities. The motto of the CFS is ‘our teaching is everlasting’; an incredible legacy to be given the opportunity to lead”.
