At the Astra Awards in London on Friday 21 September, Sergeant (Sgt) Sibley, of RAF Halton Training Wing, was awarded the People’s Choice Award for his work as the Astra Ambassador for RAF Halton.
Sgt Sibley is the driving force behind Project Next Generation Phase 1 Training, which uses virtual reality to aid training of next generation Aviators.
A shortlist of 10 Astra projects was compiled and everyone across defence was invited to vote. Halton personnel voted in large numbers as they have seen first-hand how this project increased first time pass rates for the weapons handling test; improving the competence, confidence and capability of recruits. The project captured the imagination of those who voted, and Sgt Sibley’s innovative work will have huge influence on the modernisation of learning across defence. A huge congratulations to Sgt Sibley on such a well-deserved honour.
