Exercise Auxilium Fort – Distinguished Visitors Day

Distinguished visitors (DVs) paid an official visit to RAF Honington on Wednesday (15 May).

Air Officer Commanding No. 2 Group, Air-Vice Marshall Jason Appleton, and Command Global Enablement (Cd GE), Air Commodore Jaime Thompson, attended the visit to Exercise AUXILIUM FORT being held at RAF Honingtons Complex Air Ground Environment Training Area.

The Exercise, which has been organised and delivered by Support Force, see's elements from across the RAF Global Enablement Forces come together to collectively train.

The DVs were shown round all the different elements that are training as part of the exercise, being held in the Complex Air Ground Environment training facility at RAF Honington, having briefs by elements of each of the GE Forces, including 5001 squadron, Det HQ, Tactical Air Traffic Control (TAC ATC) and Tactical Medical Wing (TMW).

 

“It is fantastic to host Ex AF24 here at RAF Honington and demonstrate to the RAF, our sister Services, and our international partners the utility and opportunities the Station's Complex Air Ground Environment training area and airfield provides. As a Logistics Officer and Station Commander, the DV Day has enabled me to walk the ground and speak to personnel from across RAF Global Enablement, witnessing their collective training and demonstrations of their various capabilities.”

Some of the force elements demonstrated various scenarios such as the Joint Aircraft Recovery and Transport Squadron (JARTS) who simulated an aircraft recovery by loading the body of a Hawk T1 aircraft onto a flatbed to be prepared to move; 2 Mechanical Transport Squadron (2 MT) then began the convoy move to RAF Barnham.

RAF Police showcased their capabilities when working with the Military Working Dogs. They showed how the dogs can be utilised alongside Remotely Piloted Ariel Systems to successfully locate and detain an intruder that had broken through at the main entry point.

The DVs then moved over to 3 Mobile Catering Squadron (3 MCS) where they had lunch that was prepared and cooked in the field kitchen.
