Moray Flying Club Hosts Charity Flying Day for Local Families from RAF Lossiemouth

On Saturday 23 rd September 2023 local families enjoyed a ‘Bader Braves Young Aviators Day’ hosted by
Moray Flying Club (MFC) which is based at RAF Lossiemouth. Short flights were offered to children with
additional needs, their siblings, parents, carers, and teachers, in conjunction with The Douglas Bader
Foundation.

The attendees enjoyed a series of 20-minute flights in the skies above Moray. The flights were carried out in
Moray Flying Clubs light aircraft and piloted by members of the club.

Reflecting on the Charity Flying Day Mrs Sharon Aitken, a teacher at Buckie High School, said:
“The experience which Moray Flying Club along with the Spirit of Bader offers our young people and their
families is truly amazing. To be able to fly in light aircraft as well as all the other special activities they put on
during the day is a wonderful opportunity which otherwise our young people and their families would not be
able to experience. The youngsters, families and staff were treated with such dignity and respect during the
day and I am immensely grateful to everyone who helped make this happen.”

The Douglas Bader Foundation exists to advance and promote the physical, mental, and spiritual welfare of
persons who are born without or have lost one or more limbs, are otherwise physically disabled or who
suffer from a diagnosed mental illness.
