RAF Waddington welcome the Lord Lieutenant for Lincolnshire

Today RAF Waddington hosted the Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, Toby Dennis, and others around the station. The tour included a look at the home of the Royal Air Force Aerobatic team- the Red Arrows, the Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Wing and XIII Squadron.

The Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire stated that the visit, for himself, serving Deputy Lieutenants and some retired Deputy Lieutenants together with Rachel Wallis, Lieutenancy Officer, was such an extremely special day.

As His Majesty’s representatives the Lieutenancies roots are embedded within His Armed Forces. To be given, not only the warmest of welcomes, and a full insight to the operations and activities within RAF Waddington, but also to be able to talk to those representing their particular skills and qualifications was a highlight of the day.

The Lord Lieutenant has been invited by the Station Commander to other occasions at RAF Waddington but said his visit today was most memorable.

I would like to thank everybody who looked after us all and specially to Squadron Leader Emily Shields - we are all most grateful.

These visits are important because they provide the opportunity to showcase what we do here on station and our contribution to the wider Royal Air Force.

The people of RAF Waddington found it a great pleasure that their station was chosen to host His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Lincolnshire and 24 deputies for their 2023 Lincolnshire Lieutenancy Annual Visit. With presentations from the Waddington Development Team, RAFAT, 1 ISR Wing and 13 Squadron, the visit provided a most welcome opportunity for RAF Waddington to showcase to the Lieutenancy the wide-ranging – and operationally vital – work of its Whole Force personnel.

The event also provided an excellent forum within which the Station could present and discuss its development plans and aspirations, with a key focus on opportunities to enhance local partnerships and community engagement in the months and years to come.

RAF Waddington thanks the Lincolnshire Lord Lieutenancy for their visit, and for showing such a keen interest in the important work undertaken by our incredible personnel.
