New RAF Application for Air Cadets

Using mobile apps is part of everyday life for most people.

The RAF is adapting to keep up with modernisation, generating digital and cyber skills within Defence while utilising mobile technologies to deliver methods of communicating information and improve the effectiveness of its workforce.

Thus, the RAFAC App is the first Mobile Application to be launched by the RAF, in development between Astra Appivate and the RAF High Code Software Delivery capability team.  Trials will be carried out at RAF Leeming, before a full production release makes it available on both iOS and Android platforms by June 2022.

The App enables over 34,000 users to access key performance indicators, such as Weapon Handling Tests, Flying and Live Firing Marksmanship logs.  It also aims to reduce the manual workflow with security features on a Digital Identity Card.

"It’s a real indication as to where the Air Force is going, the pace at which it is moving; and the rate at which we’re are able to benefit both the operational and non-operational sphere.  It’s a great time to be in the Air Force and I can see a bright future digitally."
