Childcare

The RAF Honington Nursery is called First Steps.  The nursery takes children from six weeks to five years old.

The breakfast, after-school and holiday clubs take children up to the age of 12.

It is located within the Service Family Accommodation area.

Family contact and temporary accommodation

There are two houses RAF personnel can use.

They can be used for emergency family accommodation visits from children of divorced or separated personnel, and weekend and school holiday visits from family members.  

They can also be used by family members as temporary accommodation when moving into or out of permanent service families accommodation.

The two and three bedroom houses are located just outside of the Station and within the Service Family Accommodation area.

Medical centre

The Medical Centre is for RAF personnel only. Dependants of personnel should register with a local GP.

Dental centre

The Dental Centre is for RAF Honington personnel only.

SSAFA PS&SWS RAF HONINGTON

SSAFA Personal Support & Social Work Service RAF (PS&SWS RAF) is contracted by the MOD to provide welfare support to all serving personnel (regular and reserves) and their families. Our team of specialist Personal & Family Support Workers and Social Workers are located on stations in the RAF community throughout the UK.

Our service is confidential and independent from the Chain of Command. It is the aim of our service to support you to enhance personal welfare, maintain family stability and empower you to access the support networks you are entitled to. 

Our service can support you with a range of issues including addiction & dependency, child support, financial, housing, mental health, personal support, physical health and relationships.

Anyone can refer themselves to SSAFA. You can contact our service by any of the ways below;

Sports

Station gym

The gym has a fitness suite, indoor pitches and personal training area.

The gym is open for Service personnel, dependants, contractors and civil servants.

Social

RAF Honington Community Centre

The Community Centre has many regular activities including preschool groups and classes.

In addition there is a soft play area for small children.

There is also a cafe which is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 2pm.

Busby's Bar

Busby's Bar is located in the centre of the Station behind the old Airman's Mess.

Opening times:

  • Monday and Tuesday, 7pm to 10pm
  • Wednesday, 6:30pm to 10pm
  • Thursday and Friday, 7pm to 11pm

TG's Coffee Lounge

TG's Coffee Lounge is located next to Spar behind Supply Squadron.

Opening times: Monday to Thursday, 7:30am to 3pm and Friday, 9am to 2:30pm. 

Children and young people

Children and young people’s activities and clubs on the Station are run by Airplay.

Costcutter

The Costcutter shop is located behind Receipt and Dispatch in Supply.
