Housing

The RAF Leeming Service Community Support Officer (SCSO) can offer information, advice and support about all aspects of living as part of the Station community. 

The Service Community Support Officer also provides support to serving personnel and their families pre, during and post deployment, signposting to welfare organisations when required.

The Service Community Support Officer is based in the Community Support offices within The Leeming Community Centre (Building 209).

Family contact and temporary accommodation

There are three contact houses at RAF Leeming.

Two are located on The Spinney and one is on Holly Close. All are within walking distance of the Families Club and Spar shop.

Each house has three double bedrooms. The house on Holly Close has an additional single bedroom with bunk beds.

Houses are fully furnished. 

The houses cost £26 to rent per night.

Health and welfare

Medical centre

The Medical Centre at RAF Leeming provides medical care to all service personnel and their dependants registered at RAF Leeming who live in Married Quarters.

Dental centre

The Dental Centre at RAF Leeming provides dental care to all service personnel only.

Dependants should register with an NHS dental practice.

SOLDIERS’, SAILORS’ AND AIRMEN’S FAMILIES ASSOCIATION (SSAFA)

SSAFA provides a confidential service dealing with a broad range of welfare issues such as

  • hospitalisation, long-term sickness, absence, disability
  • family, relationships, and personal difficulties  
  • stress, anxiety, and depression  
  • bereavement, loss, and grief  
  • housing, resettlement, and medical discharges  
  • childcare issues, contact issues, and safeguarding
  • adoption

SSAFA Forcesline is a free and confidential telephone helpline  service that provides support for serving (regulars and reserves) and ex-service men and women from the Armed Forces and for their families. As an independent charity, SSAFA is not part of the military chain of command.

SSAFA PS&SWS RAF

SSAFA Personal Support & Social Work Service RAF (PS&SWS RAF) is contracted by the RAF to provide welfare support to all serving personnel (regular and reserves) and their families.  Our team of specialist Personal & Family Support Workers and Social Workers are located on stations in the RAF community throughout the UK.

Our service is confidential and independent from the Chain of Command.  It is the aim of our service to support you to enhance personal welfare, maintain family stability and empower you to access the support networks you are entitled to. 

Our service can support you with a range of issues including addiction & dependency, child support, financial, housing, mental health, personal support, physical health and relationships.

Anyone, regular, reserve or dependent, can refer themselves to SSAFA.  You can contact our service by any of the ways below;

The Chaplaincy Team at RAF Leeming is here to provide pastoral and spiritual care for all
personnel and their dependants irrespective of religious belief or status.

The Station Church is located in Building 210b to the right of the Play Hangar / HIVE.

Weekly Sunday Service starts at 9:30am.

Opening times: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Bible study and fellowship groups meet at various times and locations. Contact the Chaplains Clerk for details.

The Barrel and Bean bar and café

Located on the Station and open to dependants of RAF personnel.

Ask your spouse or partner to apply for RAF ID for you if you want to use them unaccompanied by RAF personnel.

Barrel and Bean Cafe opening times: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3pm.

Barrel and Bean Bar opening times: 

  • Monday to Wednesday, 6pm to 11pm
  • Thursday, 5pm to 11pm
  • Friday, 5pm to midnight
  • Saturday and Sunday, midday to 11:30pm

There are a broad range of activities and facilities for children and young people at RAF Leeming including several equipped play areas, a skate park, sensory room and a purpose-built youth centre which runs groups for 5 to 19 year olds, Rainbows, Brownies, and Beavers.

Cubs, Scouts and Ju Jitsu clubs also meet on the Station.
